A gentle first drive through Fife’s fishing villages. Explore St Andrews’ historic streets, castle and cathedral ruins, plus wide sandy beaches.
Ideas: West Sands walk, Anstruther fish & chips, Bracklinn-style coastal strolls.
Cross the Tay Bridge into Dundee, Scotland’s creative hub.
Ideas: V&A Dundee, Discovery Point, Broughty Ferry beach.
Stop at dramatic Dunnottar Castle en route. Aberdeen offers granite architecture, seaside walks and vibrant harbour life.

Return morning: Aviemore to base ~130 miles. Allow generous time for waste, fuel and traffic so you can hand back by 11am.
We don’t prescribe specific campsites so you can pick what fits your style and availability. Look for:
Holiday parks & touring sites: Full facilities, good for longer stays.
Small sites & farm stopovers: Quieter, often scenic.
Motorhome stopovers/aires: Handy for overnight village/harbour stops.
Use official sites or clearly signed motorhome park ups. Don’t obstruct passing places or gateways.
Respect local by laws and Scotland’s Outdoor Access Code; leave no trace and minimise overnight impact.
In remote areas, plan water and waste stops ahead of time.
Walks: St Andrews beaches, Dunnottar Castle paths, Lossiemouth coastal trail, Loch an Eilein circuit.
Scenic detours: Fife fishing villages, Moray Firth dolphin viewpoints, whisky distillery routes.
Family friendly: Aberdeen science centres, sandy east coast beaches, wildlife parks in the Cairngorms.
Fuel & groceries: Top up in larger towns (St Andrews, Dundee, Aberdeen, Elgin, Aviemore).

Return day: Empty waste, refill diesel, allow extra time for the A9/A84 drive back.

History & culture: Visit Fort George, Culloden Battlefield or Urquhart Castle when near Inverness/Elgin.
