We don’t prescribe specific campsites so you can pick what fits your style and availability. Look for:
Holiday parks & touring sites: Full facilities, good for longer stays.
Small sites & farm stopovers: Quieter, often scenic.
Motorhome stopovers/aires: Handy for overnight village/harbour stops.
Use official sites or clearly signed motorhome park ups. Don’t obstruct passing places or gateways.
Respect local by laws and Scotland’s Outdoor Access Code; leave no trace and minimise overnight impact.
In remote areas, plan water and waste stops ahead of time.
Walks: Iona Abbey trails, Ben Nevis path, Loch Lomond woodland circuits.
Scenic detours: Staffa boat trip, Glenfinnan Viaduct viewpoint, Ardnamurchan beaches.
Family friendly: Sealife trips in Oban, Tobermory harbour, gondola at Nevis Range.
Fuel & groceries: Top up in larger towns (Oban, Tobermory, Mallaig, Fort William).
Road etiquette: Many single-track roads — use passing places.
Ferries: Book Oban–Mull and Kilchoan crossings in advance in summer.
Return day: Allow extra time on the A82 along Loch Lomond, often busy.
Isles focus: Add a third night on Mull and skip Ardnamurchan.
History & culture: Visit Inveraray Castle en route to Oban or explore Glencoe village.
Wildlife: Whale-watching trips from Mull or Mallaig (seasonal).
