When you collect your motorhome, we carry out a full handover and walkthrough before you begin your trip. This usually takes around 40 minutes, and it’s an important part of making sure you feel comfortable and confident before setting off.

For many people, hiring a motorhome is a new experience, and even if you’ve travelled in one before, every vehicle can be slightly different. Our handover is designed to explain everything clearly so you can relax and enjoy your adventure.

Getting Comfortable with the Vehicle

We begin by going through the main features of the motorhome. As motorhomes are larger than most cars, we’ll explain the dimensions of the vehicle, mirror positions and give you a few helpful tips for driving and manoeuvring safely.

We’ll also cover:

  • Windows
  • Roof hatches
  • mirrors
  • Fuel type and basic driving information

This helps ensure you feel confident before heading out on the road.

How Everything Works Inside

Motorhomes have a number of onboard systems that make travelling comfortable and convenient. During the walkthrough we show you how to use everything properly so there are no surprises during your trip.

This includes:

  • Heating and hot water systems
  • Gas supply and safety
  • The fridge and kitchen equipment
  • Lighting and electrical controls
  • Beds and sleeping areas

We’ll also show you how to convert seating areas if additional sleeping space is needed. But don’t worry we know its a lot to take in, we give you our handy user guide to take along with you.

Water and Waste Systems

Another important part of the handover is explaining how the water and waste systems work.

We’ll show you:

  • How to fill the fresh water tank
  • How to empty the waste water tank
  • How the toilet system works and how to empty it correctly

This is often one of the parts people are most curious about, and once it’s explained it’s very straightforward.

Levelling and Parking

We’ll also talk through parking and levelling the motorhome, including how to use the levelling ramps if needed. This helps keep the motorhome comfortable when parked and ensures appliances like the fridge work properly.

We’ll also share a few practical tips about choosing suitable parking spots during your trip.

Time for Questions

The handover isn’t just about explaining the motorhome—it’s also your chance to ask any questions before you set off.

We always encourage customers to ask anything they’re unsure about. It’s much easier to answer questions while you’re here than when you’re already out on the road.

Why the Handover Takes Around 40 Minutes

Although it might seem like a lot of information at first, the 40-minute handover ensures that everything is covered properly and that you feel confident using the motorhome.

By taking the time at the beginning of your trip, you can set off knowing exactly how everything works—allowing you to focus on what really matters: relaxing and enjoying your motorhome adventure
